RIP Hanns G Monitor
So I was playing Mass Effect 2 and suddenly my monitor is like, derp, flicker, flash, white screen. At first I assumed the worse, thinking my video card died, but I was able to verify that nothing is wrong with the PC itself when I connected it to my tv. And no matter what I do with the monitor it just keeps showing that white screen, so I guess it's toast.

Monitor shopping for me tomorrow :D I wanted to upgrade anyways, now I have no excuse not to XD

I usually hate shopping at big box retailers for such things but I don't feel like waiting for something to ship to me and monitors aren't really that specialized like PC hardware would be.

I recommend getting 2 monitors. It's remarkably handy!

I love my LG monitor, but I think my particular model has been discontinued.

I totally recommend the Samsung P2450H 24" :D (1920x1080) or anything by Samsung for that matter. I've never been disappointed with that brand!

Ended up going for the Samsung B2330HD ^_^ Basically a 23" that can support that resolution as well =)

Bleh, yea I hate how monitors tend to die all of a sudden, working nicely the previous minute, and then, you come back and they go berserk before failing once for all. Last time it happened to me, it was with a monitor that was only 1 year and a half old D:

So far, I'm happy with my Samsung SyncMaster 2220LM :)

Last time I was shopping for an lcd monitor, Korea was the leader in the technology, so any Korean brand ought to net you something good. For example, LG. Their Flatron screens are amazing. :D

Yeah I looked at LG, they were always a bit more than the Samsungs though, so i went with Samsung =)

Depending on your needs, it may be worth buying online. I don't think Best Buy and the like even sell IPS displays.

Something like this ( http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&cs=19&sku=320-9270&baynote_bnrank=3&baynote_irrank=0&~ck=baynoteSearch ) would be a great upgrade from a generic TFT display.

Oh I don't need an IPS display to be happy, I ended grabbing a nice Samsung model at Best Buy ^^

Well you can always buy to test, if you like it, order online then return it when the shipped one arrives.

Also, 65" Samsung ftw

You might consider checking the sales date of your monitor. At least around here you have 36 months guarantee on that stuff.
